Training for Roles in Language Work

Ethnomusicologist

The one-year training program in Ethnomusicology and the Arts prepares a student to work alongside local singers, actors, dancers and story tellers, researching a community's performing arts and then sparking artistic creation, to reach mutual spiritual and social goals. This training is offered at GIAL in Dallas, Texas, and at the European Training Programme. The completion of these courses, followed by a six-month to two-year internship as an Arts Worker, prepares the SIL member for further field service in the arts. Leadership in the member’s entity of assignment will determine when the Arts Worker becomes an Arts Consultant.

The exact set of courses for this track is determined in consultation with the Ethnomusicology and Arts Group. An advisor will take into account the student's background and training. For more information, email .
