Thailand Princess meets SIL and UNESCO representatives
BANGKOK, THAILAND (2 June 2006) Thailand’s Princess, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn, received representatives from SIL International and UNESCO at
the Chiltralada Palace. The delegation was presented by Minister of Education
Chaturon Chaisaeng.
SIL President Carolyn Miller (on right) congratulated Her Royal Highness on her new role as UNESCO’s “Goodwill Ambassador for the Empowerment of Minority Children through Education and through the Preservation of Their Intangible Cultural Heritage.”
SIL expresses its admiration for the Educational Projects of Her Royal Highness, as well as the development projects of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. These projects have greatly improved the lives of many of Thailand’s ethnic minority people, and also heightened their sense of human dignity.
