Example: How to use the OCM category "Fishing"

You can use the OCM categories to organize information belonging to a certain topic, for example, "Fishing." Fishing is a subcategory under 22 Food Quest. Scroll to category 22 and double-click to open it. You will see 226 Fishing, which can be further opened to its subcategories.

Alternately, if you want to find out whether and where the topic "Fishing" is listed, look for it in the OCM index under the F section.

You can buy a spiral-bound version of the OCM if you prefer to look things up in book form.

Here are things you do when you use the OCM category “Fishing.”

• You categorize any language and culture field notes and data about fishing by using the OCM category 226 Fishing.

  This can include cultural observations, texts, or lexical data.

• You categorize material other than your own, such as material about fishing that you plan to translate, under the OCM category 226 Fishing.

  This can include passages about fishing (both literal and figurative) which occur in texts a translator might wish to translate.
