Description
 

With shaken idiophones, the sound is produced when a sounding device is shaken and struck by

 
  • internal strikers such as pebbles, sand, seeds, or beads
  • external strikers such as shells arranged on a net around a vessel.
 
Examples:

Rattles, jingles (could be concussion, but emphasis on how sounded), gourd rattles
