Description
 

Double reed instruments produce their sound by means of the vibration which occurs when a player blows through the aperture (opening) between two reeds which are bound together.

 
Examples:
  • Oboe
  • Shawm (precursor of the oboe that produces a strident buzzing tone and is usually played outdoors)
