An introductory study of music among the Kera
Conclusion
This study is an introduction to the elements found in Kera music, particularly in the church but also in other settings. Further research would be profitable in several areas, including the construction of instruments and the techniques involved in playing them. More comparisons could be made with other neighboring groups. It would also be useful to find out who is considered to be a good musician and what makes a good song in the eyes of the Kera.
The Kera enjoy their music and the church is developing Kera songs. A revised hymnbook is planned soon and it should further encourage composition within the church. Outside the church, some of the Kera customs are changing. The initiation ceremony has not taken place for some time and the chief's celebration does not always take place. However, music will continue to have a large place in the Kera culture and anyone wishing to relate to the Kera will need to take it into account and note its influence on many aspects of Kera life.
